Emerging from the successful, six-year run of the Flash Forward Festival, the FlashPoint Boston Photography Festival continues the tradition of honoring the Northeast’s contributions to the art of image making. Offering free programming spanning three weeks in the fall of 2017, festival highlights will include educational lectures, celebrity workshops and seminars, pop-up galleries, and outdoor art displays and events—all culminating in the Griffin Museum of Photography’s prestigious Portfolio Reviews and Focus Awards. The Healing Arts Inspire 2017

Interdisciplinary artist Ivana George discusses her photography, mixed-media and video art at the opening reception of SUSTAIN: Delight in the Sensational Flavors of the Earth. George uses image transfer and the 19th-century photography process, cyanotype. The exhibition explores concepts of sustainability through organic urban agriculture, celebrates the beauty of fruits and vegetables grown in the backyard, and revels in the sensual enjoyment of these flavors of the Earth.
