(MA) The Handel and Haydn Society, the oldest performing arts organization in the United States, recently appointed Robert N. Shapiro as Chairman of the Board of Governors. Shapiro is a retired CEO of Ropes Wealth Advisors, has been a trustee of the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) for more than 25 years, and served as PEM’s president of the board from 2005-2020. Shapiro also served on Harvard University’s Board of Overseers from 2006-2012. Shapiro is deeply passionate about the arts, and will aid the Handel and Haydn Society in fulfilling its mission of bringing music to a larger audience.
