Massachusetts College of Art and Design

(MA) Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt), in partnership with the City of Boston, announced the 16 artists and collectives selected as the inaugural cohort of the Radical Imagination for Racial Justice (RIRJ) program were awarded grants totalling $250,000. The three-year RIRJ program provides grants to artists who identify as ALAANA+ (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab or Native American) or BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), and who seek to advance racial justice through collaborative projects in their Boston communities. Recipients of the $40,000 grants are Adobo-Fish-Sauce, Nia Holley, Fabiola Méndez, Husain Rizvi, UnBound Bodies Collective, and Lily Xie. Artists receiving $1,000 grants are Christine Alcindor, Mila Fields-Zayas, Silvina Ibañez, Mariona Lloreta, Micah x Ireon, Nate McLean-Nichols, S, Leonard Tshitenge, Aggrey Twinomugisha, and Irischa Valentin. The grants are made possible by the Surdna Foundation’s Thriving Cultures program.
