Throughout the 1960s and '70s, psychedelic counterculture permeated American mass media, including art, music, television, and literature. At the same time, controversies grew around the dangerous misuse of mind-enhancing drugs and by 1968, possession of LSD was made illegal in the United States. In this gallery conversation, Alexis Turner, Ph.D. candidate at Harvard University, shares insights into public battles over LSD as a political technology during the mid-to-late twentieth century.
