December 6–19: Joan Potkay’s solo show Land Forms East features recent paintings, paperworks and monotypes. Working in series, Potkay uses the vocabulary of the natural world as a vehicle to explore her art process and mark-making, pouring thin layers of luminous paint with the added texture of charcoal, pastels and wax. The motif of grass is articulated through abstract forms and intensive calligraphy for this show. Opening reception: Saturday, December 6, 5–8 p.m.
