The Mattatuck Museum
(CT) The Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury celebrated its re-opening on February 28 following a nearly two year, $9 million expansion and renovation project. Designed by Ann Beha Architects (ABA) of Boston, the project encompassed a 14,000-square-foot renovation to the existing building and an addition of nearly 7,000 square feet to expand space for educational programming, collections storage, and exhibitions. The “new” Mattatuck includes 1,500 square feet of new gallery space, two new classrooms, a new entrance and open lobby, a dedicated museum shop, an outdoor roof terrace, and a freight-sized elevator to accommodate large-scale traveling exhibitions.
